Starting February 14, campers will be able to make advance reservations for more campgrounds at Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming) on Recreation.gov.
According to a report, the new system directly answered public demand for a reservation system at park campgrounds and led to collaboration by recreation.gov and the National Park Service (NPS).
Reservations will go live on Recreation.gov on February 14 at 8:30 a.m. MST. You can reserve campsites for as long as six months in advance. Campgrounds are expected to be filled quickly after sites are available.
At Indian Creek, Lewis Lake, Pebble Creek, Mammoth, and Slough Creek campgrounds, 80% of sites will be reservable six months in advance, while the other 20% of sites will be open two weeks ahead.
Making reservations two weeks ahead of time allows visitors to reserve campsites closer to their arrival dates.
It will improve the visitor experience by reducing congestion at campgrounds, increasing the safety of visitors, and removing any uncertainty and frustration.
Advance reservations are also available at Bridge Bay, Madison, Canyon, and Grant Village campgrounds, as well as Fishing Bridge RV Park.

The last time the park placed campgrounds on an advance system was in March 2020. Learn more about camping in Yellowstone by clicking here.
