Federal Way Police Department shared that a woman was abducted at Dash Point State Park after she and her companion were robbed at gunpoint when they were camping on September 30th, according to a report.
The couple was camping at Dash Point State Park near the 5700 block of SW Dash Point Road at around 8:14 a.m. when it happened, police said.
They were in their car due to the rain, when an unidentified man entered the vehicle and pointed at them with a gun, and then robbed them of their belongings and cash.
The male suspect later demanded the victim to drive towards an ATM to withdraw cash, as per police. The suspect then fled in the car that the victim was renting and was later found in Fife.
The couple managed to tell a restaurant staff to dial 911, according to police. None of the victims were injured in the incident.
“We take the safety of our visitors very seriously,” said Amanda McCarthy, communications manager for Washington State Parks. “Our rangers worked quickly to respond to the initial report and contacted additional law enforcement immediately.”
Police have confirmed that two suspects were involved, but they only have limited information available. Federal Way police are actively conducting an investigation about the incident.
Dash Point State Park has 114 standard campsites along with 27 utility camping sites.
