Moneta (Virginia’s) supervisors last week voted unanimously to permit the expansion of Sweetwater RV Park. According to a report, the park located on White House Road acquired an additional 10 acres.

The expansion will permit the park to accommodate 32 more RV sites, bringing the total to 82. The planning commission previously gave the park a thumbs-up on a 5-0 vote.

The park has been in operation since 2010, and Sheriff Mike Miller said he couldn’t remember any issues. District 2 Supervisor Edgar Tuck noted that most neighbors are satisfied with the location.

“I’m for the expansion,” stated District 6 Supervisor Bob Davis.

The supervisors took a unanimous decision to take the last step to make sure that developers do not attempt to place apartment units within an area that the supervisors consider inappropriate for them by defining them as hotels for extended stays. The new zoning ordinance has stricter requirements regarding these buildings.
