Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texasis moving its campground reservation system online to recreation.gov, a report said.

Recreation.Gov will now take reservations for Pine Springs and Dog Canyon campgroundsand other recreational vehicle sites on September 30. Campers used to book a campsite in advance or person at the Pine Springs Visitor Center. Recreation.Gov now handles all advanced and day-of reservations.

You can make overnight reservations for RV camping or tentcamping up to six months ahead. Recreation.Gov will handle all the payments for RV and camping sitesas well.

It is strongly recommended that you reserve your RV and tent camping sites before entering the park. Cell phone coverage is not available at the visitor center or in the campground areas. There will be no self-registering prepayment systems (also known as “iron rangers”).

During busy times, such as holiday weekends or in the fall and spring, it can be difficult to find open campsites in the park. You may also be interested in exploring camping options outside of the park. These include private campgrounds located in the nearby communities of White’s City or Carlsbad, New Mexico. Camping opportunities are also available at the Bureau of Land Managementand the U.S. Forest Service.
