Huntsville City Council will consider a new proposal for a controversial RV park along Hwy. 30 in Huntsville, Texas.

The city’s planning commission decided last month to reject an application for a conditional use permit for a 225-site park near the Hwy. 30 post office. According to a report, the denial was due to concerns about the location.

“The planning commission was concerned about the location of the proposed RV Park being so close to IH-45 and being in the city limits. They would prefer it to be located in the ETJ or further out in Walker County where there is more rural, shaded, and undeveloped land,” said City Planner Armon Irones in the council notes for the November 16 meeting.

The city officials also pointed out that the capacity of sewers is not sufficient in the area because of an old lift station. A new lift station is expected to require a minimum of two years to be built.

The proposed RV park will also have 25 park model pads as well as a 4,500-square-foot clubhouse and a resort-style pool.
