According to a report, Texas‘ Killeen City Council is expected to hear a plan to change the zoning of a five-acre property in the city’s southern region for a possible RV park during Tuesday’s workshop meeting.
The city staff is recommending the rejection of the request, as per the presentation included in the agenda.
The proposed site is at 7700 Clear Creek Road, located near the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport.
The developer has requested to rezone the property from R-1 (single-family residential district) to R-MP (mobile home and park district for travel trailers). The developer also wants to change the property’s designation on the Future Land Use Map from SC (suburban commercial) to GR (general residential).
The city staff has found that the request is not in line with the map.
On October 4, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5-1 to support the rezoning request. Louie Minor was the only one against the plan, saying that the proposal was unsuitable for the area.
The approval of the request is contingent on a minimum approval vote of three-fourths of the council.
The council will also examine other rezoning requests for different land areas across the city during the workshop.
The workshop meeting is scheduled to start around 5 p.m. in the council chambers of Killeen City Hall, 101 N. College St.
