It’s been several months since the failure of the spill gate at Lake Gonzales in Texas‘ Gonzales County, a loss which has essentially depleted the reservoir, a report said.
Now, people in the region say they’re experiencing the consequences of this malfunction.
Mark Dunn is the owner of the “Gone Fishing” RV Park located at Lake Gonzales. He said that since the failure on August 3rd, water is now gone. No water means no boat rentals and less money.
“It’s a huge revenue loss because of, you know, there’s no more boating or fishing or renting of boats, and a lot of people would come here for the water,” Dunn said.
Dunn stated that the park remains open, and people go there to camp and grill. However, without the lake, things don’t seem as appealing.
The Gonzales and the surrounding communities have stated that their current mission is to ensure their lakes remain in good condition. They hope that they can work with the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority to work on the effort.
