Although it is still in its infancy, the Mayfield recreational vehicle park has attracted plenty of attention, a report said.
Residents were shocked when the plans for the Woods Hollow Campground, a 300-lot site on an 83.4-acre plot, were first discussed in March.
The proposed RV park would be on the south side of State Route 30 just south of Woods Hollow Road.
This project will create RV lots, camp home lots, and tents. An amphitheater, toilets/shower facilities, and playgrounds will be provided. There will also be a dock system, boat slips, boat launch access, and boat launch.
Although full approval may take a long time, Woods Hollow Road residents want to be able to speak up about the proposed campground.
Woods Hollow Road residents are concerned about the impact of the project on the environment. Traffic concerns, the scope, and size of the project, as well as the impact on quality and life, are just a few of the other issues.
Woods Hollow Road, approximately 2 miles long, and its roads are made up mainly of year-round residences. There are also seasonal residences.
An attorney was hired by the group opposed to the project, the report mentioned.
County Planning Director Scott Henze said that Fulton County Center for Regional Growth is working with the principals of the project.
Henze stated that the construction of the project won’t begin until spring 2022, given that all necessary approvals have been received from the state Department of Health and the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
The town of Mayfield must approve the project.
Last Wednesday’s town planning meeting was the place where the project was discussed. Each month, the town of Mayfield holds its monthly planning board meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. September 15th at 6 p.m. is the next scheduled meeting.
