The Tennessee Valley Authority on Wednesday issued a final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact that would enable the City of Rockwood to build a full-service commercial marina and campground on Watts Bar Reservoir with a 30-year easement.
TVA decided that the development would not significantly affect the environment, the governing body said in a release. Documents related to this assessment are posted at tva.com/nepa.
A deed modification would be given to the City of Rockwood to allow Blue Ridge Development LLC to develop the proposed 43-acre marina and campground near Tom Fuller Memorial Park.
TVA would issue Blue Ridge Development an easement for land rights to construct the development, including 204 covered boat slips, boat ramp, fuel platform, swim beach, fishing piers, parking spaces, water intakes, riprap, and campsites. TVA will require a TVA Section 26a permit for all facilities constructed below the 750-foot contour elevation.
The proposed development would add recreation amenities for the surrounding community and provide economic value to the region.
