Lower Skyco LLC’s proposed campground is slated to be developed, a report said.

Dare County Planning Board (North Carolina) approved the 120-unit campground situated on 415 acres. It is bordered by Highway 345 east and Pamlico Sound to the west.

Campground X is the working name of the campground. It claims to be a state-of-the-art development with 60 RV sites close to the highway and 50 cabins. All will be elevated and spaced 30 feet apart to minimize disturbance to the surrounding vegetation. Ten tent sites with decks are also included as well as wooden walkways linking areas.

The land comprises 26.34 acres of upland. 248.94 acres of coastal freshwater wetlands, as well as two ponds that total 24.31 acres. The ponds have been naturalized from former sand mines. The property has access to the sound side beachfront.

John M. Robbins III, one of the members of Lower Skyco LLC, represented the plaintiff at the October 11 planning board meeting.
