As the water rises, more than 100 people have been evacuated from three Avery County campgrounds. Roads are at risk of flooding, a report said.

Officials from Avery County announced Tuesday night that they were moving to evacuate three campgrounds: Linville Land Harbor, Pineola, and a trailer park close to the Mitchell County line.

Officials state that everyone is fine, but water levels are still high. The rain had been falling for several hours.

According to Avery County Sheriff, although the campgrounds aren’t underwater, roads are at risk of flooding. According to the sheriff, 120 people are currently being relocated.

Officials from Avery County are being assisted by the Watauga County Swiftwater team. Officials stated that the goal was to evacuate everyone from the campgrounds before water covers the roads.

As severe storms swept through the region, Tornado Warnings were issued for Avery County Tuesday afternoon and evening. The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for the county through 3 AM.

Officials state that Avery County has experienced storm-total rainfall of between two and five inches, the report added.
