Utah Development plans to invest about $25 million to develop anfor General on the 40.24-acre plot of land owned by North Carolina’s County, as per a report.
The property is located at the end of East Ritchie Road, behind Koontz Elementary School and across from the Summit Corporate Center.
If approved, thewould generate 150 full-time jobs over the next three years.
Offers to buy county-owned property are typically subject to the upset bid process. TheEconomic Development Committee wants to bypass that process based on the “potential impact of the project” by utilizing General Statute 158-7.1(d), which permits private negotiation in the interest of overall economic development. The first step in the process is to host a , which would give community members a chance to weigh in on the sale.
TheCounty Board of Commissioners on Monday night scheduled a for the project to be held during their next meeting on April 4.
