After months of debate, consultation, and public input, Montana‘s Great Falls City Commission has adopted an RV and large car/vessel parking policy, a report said.

The ordinance will be effective on March 15, 2022, instead of the normal three-month timeframe following a newly approved policy.

It’s intended to ban recreational vehicles, such as campers and trailers from being in the streets. This is also to update the city code to only allow them to park on streets for a short period of time such as when they are returning from a camping trip and are unpacking.

The parking time is 72 hours within 7 days.

There’s an exception for commercial vehicles like construction trailers.

For years, complaints have been made by residents about long-term storage and/or parking of RVs, boats, and trailers on residential streets.
