The Meadow campground invites the public to come out and stargaze on Friday, October 8th, and Saturday, Oct 9th, at their “Look at the Stars” event, presented by Vayujeet Gokhale, Truman State Associate Professor of Physics. This event is free and open to all, a report said.
Lola McDonald, the owner of The Meadow, stated that she had sent invitations to schools in the area and invited families and children to join this amazing adventure and learning experience.
“I believe adults may enjoy it as much, if not more than the children,” she said.
The concession building will have food available for purchase starting at 5:30 pm. Professor Gokhale will present as the sun begins to set. For comfort, the campground suggests that you bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Professor Gokhale will guide guests to the skies using an astronomy laser pointer. He will also provide education about constellations, planets, and galaxies. A limited number of telescopes and binoculars will be available for guests to borrow. Guests with their own viewing devices can also bring them along to the event.
RSVPs are required for those who intend to attend the event at 573-541-33910 to plan accordingly.
McDonald’s wants to remind everyone that the perfect weather and water conditions right now are ideal for Kayak Excursions. These can still be booked at The Meadow. They can provide transportation and rentals, as well as transportation-only services to those who own their kayaks.
