Maryville City Council approved during Monday’s brief meeting a bid to install new water and sewer infrastructure in the context of an extensive RV park expansion at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park, a report said.

The council approved a contract with White Cloud Engineering & Construction for $187,250 to design the improvements to the water and sewer systems. These improvements will allow for the construction of 43 full-hookup RV sites. They will include hookups to electricity, water, and sewer. The city has allocated $450,000 to the overall project. It will also build two new shower houses as well as an expanded RV dump station.

Evergy, an American investor-owned utility, moved electrical lines earlier this year for the expansion. City crews are still grading the surface, the report said.

As far back as 2018, discussions began about the project in the city. The global pandemic has had a devastating effect on tourist and travel destinations. However, RV sales have increased and many RV parks like the one at Mozingo have seen an increase in their business.
