Michigan‘s Milton Township planning commissioners once again denied an RV park proposal in Torch River, saying it did not meet zoning requirements to modify a site in the least amount possible.
The commissioners reached a final decision that can be appealed in court, Chairman Bill Hefferan told local news.
He wasn’t convinced that the plans submitted by applicants Jim and Lori Brewer could meet the condition. This is since some of the property has been extensively altered, he said.
Torch Elk Skegemog Alliance, a non-profit, and numerous residents opposed the proposal, the second for the site. They cited concerns over noise, traffic, and environmental impacts such as runoff and septage contamination of nearby wetlands and wells.
The plans called for 70 sites that would be leased to the same person for the entire season. The proposed site is 10 acres of land located between Torch River and Miller roads.
Don Passenger, an attorney representing the Brewers, said the plans are compliant with township zoning and that the Brewers have dedicated their retirement savings to the plans.
