Michigan’s Sturgis City Commission on Wednesday approved two motions to proceed with engineering and design services for a possible RV manufacturing facility in the city.
According to a report, the city commission ok’d a task order with Fleis and VandenBrink Engineering Inc. to provide engineering services for bid, construction, construction, and post-construction of the Stapleton lift station project for $42,200.
The committee also unanimously approved the $21,000 construction and management proposal with Fleis and VandenBrink in addition to bidding phase services. The approved motions will allow developers to begin the bidding process and stay in line with timelines for construction.
The commission approved a design task order in March for a lift station at Stapleton Industrial Park to start the construction of the property that Heartland RV recently acquired.
The design has been finalized on the lift station. Approval was also received from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). The next step is to proceed with the bidding process for the project.
The Construction Management Agreement for project implementation that contracts administrative, management, and related services for the project was created with F&V Construction Management (FVCM).
The complete construction management contract will go before the commission to be approved after receiving the proposals for the project. City officials have $1.25 million allocated for the project this fiscal year.
