Michigan‘s Ishpeming City will be able to clear-cut around twelve acres of wooded land to construct a brand new campground along Malton Road, a report said.

The city was awarded a $100,000-state grant to construct a 16-acre campground. The city has also applied for additional grants on the local scale.

The city has hired Holli Forest Products to cut out dying and dead jackpines to maintain “more desirable, healthy trees” in the region. The other contractor they hired is Sam’s Dirt Works to eliminate all stumps left in the area.

The clear-cutting process will begin before winter gets underway. Then they will take bids on the actual construction of the campground that is expected to be completed in the following spring or early summer.

Work is set to begin on Thursday.
