A popular Maine campground owner has made it a condition that all guests must be fully vaccinated, a report said.
“Sorry, but the good of the people,” Pat Kosalka, owner of Sagadahoc Bay Campground said, “it’s not against their rights.”
Kosalka stated that every camper who wishes to stay in Georgetown must present proof of vaccination.
Eric, her husband, and all her staff are fully vaccinated, she stated.
Despite the negative messages left on the campground’s Facebook page, the couple stated that they are doing the right things.
Kosalka stated, “I just wanted a stand and that was exactly what I did. I’ve been called every name that is in the book because of that.”
A repeat customer discovered the rule and said that she would be coming to camp with her husband, who was not yet vaccinated.
“She emailed yesterday to say, ‘Guess What? It was because of you that he received his first vaccine. I replied, “Great. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. I don’t care about what anyone else thinks,” Kosaka stated, “I’m doing this because I feel we must take a stand.”
Some campers who stayed at the campground this week agreed that the rule was a good idea.
“We are nervous. “We have a child who has special needs. So the idea that we travel to a state where everyone is vaccinated is exciting to us,” Khanti Munro, who is from Vermont, said.
Kosalka stated that she isn’t worried about the mandate harming her business as they have already booked into 2023.
