Chariton, Iowa’s Red Haw State Park will be closed after a severe storm swept through the area last weekend, claiming one life and leaving another person injured at the campground, according to a report.

The EF-3 tornado brewed south of Chariton and took a direct path through Red Haw State Park, the National Weather Service said.

The storm has incurred significant damages to the campgrounds and the beach area, leaving the park without power, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said.

The park is closed to the public as crews clean up debris and do some repairs.
