Stellhorn Camping and RV Center has opened a new location in Kokomo ( ) after investing more than $1 million to revamp the former Kingsway Sports Academy.
According to a report, owner Doug Stellhorn said the new 22-acre property has allowed the company to extend its options for RVs andand add new brands such as Prowler, Starcraft, Flagstaff, MPG, and CargoMate.
Thecenter also has a store that offers high-end grills and gear. It also features an indoor showroom. The owner is planning to include a leasing space for people to store their and provide rental services.
As part of the upgrade, the business hired seven new employees. Stellhorn currently employs 15 people. This number will rise to 20 when the facility is fully operational.
“We wanted to have a bigger facility and do more with a lot more ground,” he said.
“We knew if we purchased the site, all we’d have to do is some major renovations, and that would givethe we needed.”
The renovations included transforming the two buildings into a showroom, offices, and a service center. They also removed the putt-putt golf, fixed the parking area, and took down the baseball fencing, bleachers, and the old concession stands.
