An investment of $4 million has been announced by Ember Recreational Vehicles Inc., a new competitor in northern Indiana’s huge recreational vehicle industry.

According to a report, the funds will be used to expand operations in Bristol, Elkhart County, and create 150 jobs by 2023. Ember Recreational Vehicles is a new RV manufacturer that offers lightweight travel trailers for both off-road and on-grid use.

According to Ember, the company is building an 88,000-square-foot plant. This will be an upgrade to its 18,000-square foot Bristol facility. Ember anticipates that the construction project will be completed next month, the report mentioned.

Ashley Bontrager Lehman founded the company earlier this year, the granddaughter of Jayco Inc. founders Lloyd Bontrager and Bertha Bontrager. Jayco is now a subsidiary of Elkhart-based Thor Industries.

Lehman, Ember president and chief executive officer, stated that “the craftsmanship, dedication, work ethic, and hard work ethic of local workers has proven to be unmatched” over the past decades. We strongly believed that to build a better vehicle, we had to first build a better company. We are excited to bring a new approach to the RV Industry. And Indiana is the perfect place to do this.”

Ember claims it has begun the prototype process and has hired two dozen people. Ember RV has been offered conditional tax credits of up to $1,000,000 by the Indiana Economic Development Corp. based on job-creation plans. IEDC states that Bristol also offers incentives worth $425,000, the report said.
