Camp Aramoni was set to open this month, but the pandemic has caused significant delays. According to a representative, Camp Aramoni will take reservations for September and Oct, but the “grand opening season” of full amenities won’t start until 2022.
The launch of the 96-acre upscale campsite and event space was delayed due to supply chain issues. Cleetus Friedman, Chicago’s chef, is the host of the large venue in Central Illinois.
Camp Aramoni is located in Tonica, which is a small community about 90 minutes from Chicago. It aims to attract wedding parties, honeymooners, and other comfort-conscious patrons. Hardwood floors, en suite bathrooms, king-size beds, and air conditioning will be standard in their safari-style tents. The wide-open countryside was created as a workaround for city diners who were worried about COVID-10 spreading.
Pizza and burger nights with live music for locals have also been recently launched. The Barn, a lodge-inspired restaurant, and Burlington, an Airstream Overlander RV that was converted into a coffee shop and cocktail bar are also to be noted.
An appealing open-air alternative to hotels during the pandemic has been offered by glamping venues like Camp Aramoni and the Fields of Michigan (nearly three hours west of Detroit). Reservations for September and October 2021 are available at Camp Aramoni (809 N. 2199 Road Tonica).
