Visitors from Canada are expected to return to Southwest Florida RV parks after receiving the go signal to enter the United States. However, some parks in the area say they’re getting numerous calls, and they’re running out of room to accommodate the tourists, a report said.
“The Canadian business for us is big,” said Chad McCumber, the manager of the Blueway RV Village in South Fort Myers.
“The RV business right now is booming, so to get spots in Florida right now is difficult.”
This surge of requests and calls for reservations from Canadians follows an announcement made by Canada’s government. The Canadian government recently announced that land travel to the U.S. is scheduled to resume on November 8.
Canadians were barred from entering Canada for more than a year due to COVID-19.
“We obviously couldn’t get our Canadian friends that we’d have here on the regular,” McCumber said.
He and the other RV resorts anticipate the economic activity boom Canadians will bring to the region.
“I’m confident that’s millions of dollars that they bring into the United States, just in the RV business. That’s a huge boost,” McCumber said.
