A new RV resort is coming to Pasco County (Florida) despite receiving opposition from Dade City residents.
A report mentioned Kelly Smith with the organization No St. Joe RV Park Group, who shared that over 1,000 people have signed in opposition to the project for the land bordered by I-75, Lake Lola Rd., and Lake Moody.
“The problem is this particular project…is simply too intense for a rural area,” she said.
According to the report, the North Pasco RV Resort will cover 131 acres and include up to 550 RV sites. There will also be two pools, a sports complex, a nature center, and more.
To do this, the developers asked the planning committee to approve changes to the comprehensive plan for future land use maps and zoning.
Despite the passionate pleas of residents, the majority of the commission backed the changes, with only one member who opposed.
A meeting to discuss the approval is scheduled for February 8 at 1:30 p.m.
