Foxwoods Resort Casino wants to enhance its entertainment and business facilities in Mashantucket, Connecticut, by building a sprawling recreation campground, a report said.

Foxwoods recently revealed plans to build a luxurious resort-like camping site that will be managed by Blue Water Development (BWD). This Maryland-based hospitality development company specializes in managing campgrounds.

Mashantucket Pequot’s communication representatives said that the project will be family-friendly.

The plan is aimed at the tribal land at Avery Pond, located along Route 2 in the town of Preston. Last week, Foxwoods and BWD presented plans for the campground to the township’s officials.

If the campground is approved, it will include several camping sites, a pool complex that includes a waterslide and splash pads, volleyball and tennis courts, pavilions, and a camp store.

The campground would be served by utilities which include water, electricity, as well as bathrooms.

Foxwoods’ campground resort plan will be reviewed next week during a Preston Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission meeting.

Foxwoods is operated and owned by Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nations. It is one of the two tribes in Connecticut that are federally recognized.
