The owners of Johnson’s Beach in Guerneville, California have said yes to an offer for the riverfront’s most famous stretch of property, but the new owners’ identities remain a mystery, a report said.

One thing is certain: Sonoma County is not taking over the 11-acres beach. At the very least, not yet.

The property remains in escrow, and the current agreement could still fall through. Dan Poirier and Nick Moore (the owners) have so far refused to accept the county’s offer as per Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Lynda Hopkins, whose district includes the area.

According to the owners, the people behind the winning bidder have a background in hospitality.

The property has a 38-tent camping area, a four-bedroom, two-bath lodge, and 10 antique cabins dating to the 1920s.

Kathryn Proctor, President of Lodging Brokers Netwo, was the one who said that the identities of the top bidders and the offer were confidential. She also said that the beach has proven to be successful despite many setbacks, including floods, wildfires, and COVID-19.

Proctor added that Moore and Poirier are moving towards retirement, and so they put the property up for sale last month when summer ended. The asking price for the property was $3.7 million.
