The results of the RV Industry Association’s August 2021 survey of manufacturers showed that the total RV transports finished at 52,819 units this month.
According to RVIA’s report, this is an improvement of 33.8 percent compared to the 39,489 units sold in the same month last year. The 52,819 shipments recorded the previous month established a new monthly record for August. It is second to March 2021 in terms of the number of units shipped in one month.
The record for August was for class B motorhomes, which shipped 1,442 units in August, a 29 percent rise over previous records established in March 2021.
Class B motorhomes are getting more popular, with significant increases in their monthly sales for 16 consecutive months.
“The RV industry has set a new monthly shipment record for ten straight months as RV manufacturers and suppliers work together to meet the sustained demand from RV consumers,” said RV Industry Association President & CEO Craig Kirby. “The substantial interest in Class B motorhomes reflects the younger, first-time buyers who are a big part of the surge in RV sales.”
Towable RVs, led by standard travel trailers, ended the month with a gain of 34.7 percent over last August with 47,889 wholesale shipments.
Motorhomes closed the month with an increase of 25.5 percent compared to the similar month of the same year, 4,930 units.
Park Model RVs closed the month lower (-3.7 percent) than August 2020, which saw 309 wholesale deliveries.
