The U.S. Forest Service says 500 pine trees were planted last month near a campground east of Payson (Gila County, Arizona), a report said.
Colcord Ridge Campground is situated near the Mogollon Rim. The famous site is settled along an unpaved road which leads into the town of Young.
The initiative comes after a parasitic plant has infected about 500 ponderosa pine trees around Tonto National Forest’s Colcord Ridge Campground.
Federal officials say that the newly-planted southwestern white pine trees are safe from the parasitic plant.
