On Tuesday night, over 100 attendees attended the public meeting to discuss their concerns regarding a planned luxurious RV park in Picture Rock, a report said.
The property’s 75 acres are less than a mile from Saguaro National Park, making it a popular destination for tourists. It will have 200 RV parking spaces with a pool, spa, clubhouse, and tennis courts.
It was scheduled to be presented to the Pima County Planning and Zoning commission last month. However, after receiving criticism, the owner requested a one-month extension to solicit more community input.
Many homeowners believe the area isn’t prepared for RVs or the changes the plan could bring.
Residents are also concerned about the supply of power and water, security (with an ever-changing population close to parks in the neighborhood), property values, and road wear and tear.
This land modification will go towards the Planning and Zoning commission on September 29. If approved, the water, traffic, as well as environmental study are required to be completed. Then, the plan will be reviewed by the commission to consider the rezoning.
