A Dorchester (England) campsite has requested to extend operation from April through September each year.
The Dewflock Farm site at Winterborne Monkton is requesting Dorset Council to approve its continued opening on April 1 to September 6 every year on a site just under a hectare that runs parallel with the Dorchester–Weymouth rail line.
Over the years, the farm has been operating a campsite, benefiting from laws that allow campsites to be used for at least 28 days. Because of the pandemic, the government has extended the time to 56 days in the past two years.
Weddings were also available, but the service has since been discontinued, as the farm focused on camping, utilizing 20 bell tents. Recently, they also started to allow campers to bring their own tents.
The request for the April-September period for permanent use states that the property, though situated in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is well-hidden with no immediate neighbors.
Comments from the public on the application, Dorset Council reference 2021/05132, will be open until January 3, 2022.
