A husband and wife have said that they are lucky to be alive after they crawled out of their destroyed caravan that was hit by a fallen tree.
51-year-old David Ward lived with his wife and three kids in two caravans as construction was ongoing on their new house.
At around 8:00 am, Sunday (October 31), a tree abruptly came crashing down on the husband and wife’s caravan and left them trapped in their bed.
David said: “I am building a new house, and I have been living in a static caravan with my family while it’s being built.”
“We were sleeping, and the next thing we knew, a tree fell through our roof, and it came straight on top of us. The branch also pierced the next door caravan with my children inside.”
The Wards were able to crawl out of their caravan and save their dog as they hurriedly checked on their kids, Vincent, Kashmir, and Max.
They were thankful to see that all of their children were safe, although David suffered a cut to his head and Samantha sustained some scrapes and bruises.
“The first thing we did was to make sure the children were safe, and then we got the children out of the caravan and into our house.” David Said.
“I had to pull the dog from under the bed, which was also trapped.”
“We cannot believe we are alive, and I really can’t believe we survived that.”
