A tourist had planned to propose to his girlfriend while on a glamping trip in Wales. But, instead of proposing to her, he ended up in jail, a report said.
According to the report, Luke Wroe (33), a barber from Wesson Gardens in Halesowen, Birmingham, admitted to twice threatening to set fire a Porthmadog campsite in Gwynedd. He also assaulted owner Joanne Wallbanks and admitted possessing cannabis.
A court at Llandudno, where he appeared in custody, heard Wroe had been asked to leave the Hadfer glamping site because of fears about his behavior towards his partner.
Wroe was sleeping rough in a shelter when the girlfriend arrived at Porthmadog railway station to go home, the report added.
Diane Williams, the prosecutor, said that Wroe had become threatening and tried to kick the scared owner of the campsite at the station.
The report stated that according to Ben Jones, a defense solicitor, Wroe was upset by the incident and was remorseful.
Gwyn Jones, a district judge, imposed a 20-week suspended sentence with a 12-week curfew and 120 unpaid hours. He will pay Joanne Wallbanks £ 400 compensation and £ 213 expenses.
He is now banned from the Hadfer site for five years by a restraining order, the report said.
