After being illegally parked at the caravan site for six weeks, an RV was set on fire, a report said.
Travelers set up at John Rabson Recreation Ground on June 10 and were there until late July.
A Reading Borough Council spokesperson stated that the RV was scheduled to be removed from the site following an illegal traveler incursion at Rabson Recreation Ground.
“Our officers immediately cleared the caravan of all potentially hazardous material, including fuel cans, gas bottles, and made arrangements to have it removed. Unfortunately, the caravan that had been abandoned was set on fire within hours,” the spokesperson said in the report.
According to the report, Local Democracy Reporting Service visited the park on Thursday night (August 12) at 5:30pm. They found that the charred caravan, which included a microwave, wheels and a tub filled with Flora, still there.
The council is currently trying to expel the travelers from Palmer Park after they fleed their John Rabson Recreation Ground encampment.
Legal notices have been sent to the illegal traveler encampment, and the council is waiting for a court date to proceed with the eviction, the report said.
