Luton Council is looking at an upcoming bill for cleaning up, following the abandonment of a caravan in an illegal traveler camp.

The travelers were relocated from Crawley Green Recreation Ground.

The bulk of the cleaning was already completed through Luton Borough Council, but the removal of the caravan is likely to take longer.

The sports pitches at the recreation facility have also been damaged. However, the parks team plans to repair this by the weekend.

Another camp for travelers has begun on the open space in front of Challney High School for Girls on Addington Way.

Council has initiated legal proceedings to get them removed from the Addington Way encampment.

The council admitted that it understands the residents‘ frustrations with the time it takes to eliminate illegal camps, but added that it must adhere to the proper legal procedure.
