Hiqma Humaidan, a care worker, said that firefighters battled the blaze at Ribston Place in Darnall. The RV had been abandoned since April, a report said.
She stated that residents had previously raised concerns about the abandoned caravan to authorities after it was made a target for anti-social behavior in the residential community cul-de-sac.
She stated that late-night drinking and noise disturbance were common occurrences.
She stated that the caravan had been left here, and residents weren’t sure who it belonged to. “It was not something we thought much about, but it caused problems for the residents.”
“There were many people who came in and out of our caravan, and they used to make a lot of noise and smash bottles on the floor.
She stated that residents have made requests to have their caravan moved.
She said, “I recall seeing someone really drunk there once. This was a concern for me, especially for the children and residents.
“There were condoms and drugs in the caravan.”
She stated that abandoned vehicles could quickly become a fire hazard, putting lives at risk.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue was contacted for further details.
