A 2-year-old girl died when a caravan caught ablaze at Sealand’s Caravan Park, Ingoldmells, a report said.
On Monday 23 August, officers were summoned to the scene at 10.30 pm.
The fire had started with a family inside the caravan. While the mother was able to flee to safety with her three children, her fourth child, who was a girl of two years, died in the fire.
The mother and her three children were treated at the hospital and released.
Nearby caravans were evacuated, and approximately 50 people were placed in temporary accommodation overnight.
Jo Fortune, Detective Inspector, is the senior investigating officer. She stated that it was a terrible incident for all. “We are still in the early stages of our investigation and we are not certain what caused the fire.”
“We will work closely with specialist teams in order to understand what happened. We appeal to all those who were there last night but have not spoken to police, and anyone with video to share it with officers for our intelligence.
“This is particularly distressing as a family loses a child. We ask that people remember these victims and not share the footage online.”
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue paid tribute to the 2-year-old girl who passed away yesterday.
Matt King, Divisional Commander East Division at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said that: “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family at these difficult times.
“All firefighters have been provided with welfare support. Once investigations are completed, local fire departments and our community fire safety unit will be available to talk to the people of the area and address any fire safety concerns.
