The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Major Crime Unit South investigated a firearms-related incident at Lions Park Campground Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, a report said.

Meadow Lake RCMP received numerous reports that a firearm was discharged at the Lions Park campground around 2:44 p.m. on August 30.

Flying Dust First Nation‘s 34-year-old female was found dead in a campground area camper trailer.

Police arrived at Thunderchild First Nation to find a 34-year-old male dead from an apparent suicide in the same camper trailer.

Initial investigations have revealed that this was a domestic homicide–suicide. This week, autopsies will be performed in Saskatoon.

During the incident, a woman who was known to the deceased people was also hurt. The incident resulted in a minor injury that was treated at the hospital. She has been released.

Meadow Lake RCMP received a request from an individual for a wellness exam on the same 34-year-old woman. When the separate complaints about the firearm being discharged were made, police officers began investigating.

In conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and Meadow Lake RCMP, the RCMP Major Crime Unit South will investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police are not looking for additional suspects in this incident.
