Parking overnight on the grounds of McRae Park has caused fears about campfires, tents, and the park turning into a camping area, a report said.
“The concern was that on two occasions there were five RVs there, and the concern was it was going to turn to tents and bonfires,” Bonnechere Valley Mayor Jennifer Murphy said during a council committee meeting on Tuesday.
Based on the concerns of people living near the park, the By-law Enforcement Officer Mark Schroeder was able to put up some signs that said no camping overnight, Murphy added.
Councillor Brent Patrick asked for an additional recommendation from the staff regarding signs. He was unsure of where the public could stop and pointed out a dog park close by and a dumping site.
The council received an email from a resident nearby who claimed to have contacted the department of public works concerned about camping overnight at McRae Park on Grist Mill Road but could not receive an answer in full.
