Park users, including provincial park campers, get the opportunity to offer their input to assist in helping the Manitoba government improve the campground reservation system.

On Tuesday, Conservation and Climate Minister Sarah Guillemard announced the launch of an online EngageMB poll to assist the province in developing an efficient, secure, and equitable booking process, a report said.

“We have collected feedback from campers who encountered difficulties making reservations this year and in years past,” Guillemard stated in a press release.

“We are looking to make the process easier for campers and are seeking to validate our understanding of the suggestions received. We also need additional feedback on some potential program shifts that could assist campers booking vacations.”

The province said that this spring recorded a record number of people attempting campsite reservations.

Its current booking system allows flexible booking dates that are timed in the hope of spreading out the multitude of customers trying to reserve specific sites. However, the province said that, as more customers use this booking method, the long lines and technical problems have caused delays, and some people were kicked off the queue before they had completed their reservations.

This is the reason Manitoba is currently seeking feedback from the public to improve its booking system. The goal is to make it simpler for the public to book appointments in the short term and look to overhaul the system completely.

Guillemard stated that updating the reservations system is crucial for a more comprehensive strategy to enhance the province’s parks.
