The electrical service at Duck Mountain Provincial Park campgrounds will be upgraded through a CA$450,000-investment by the Provincial Parks Endowment Fund to aid in the improvement of parks throughout Manitoba, a report said.

The funding increase will help fund a range of accessibility enhancements like the installation of a mobility mat for a beach in Clearwater Lake Provincial Park, surface enhancements to the Bur Oak Trail in Birds Hill Provincial Park for people who use wheelchairs, and the introduction of accessible picnic tables in the parks throughout the province.

The trails will be upgraded further along the Bear Lake Trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park as well as at the Disappearing lakes in Turtle Mountain Provincial Park.

Othe campground improvements include replacement of electrical pedestals or relocations within Stephenfield Provincial Park.

The CA$20-million Provincial Parks Endowment Fund is anticipated to bring in up to CA$1 million annually to help offset the rising costs of improving and maintaining the provincial parks of Manitoba.

The priorities for this fund can be established by means of a process that requires the involvement of both stakeholders and citizens.
