The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has issued an evacuation warning for all properties located within 500m of the Similkameen River within the areas of H, G, and B due to flooding threats.
The area covers rural Princeton, according to a report. It also includes the rural area of Keremeos as well as the village of Keremeos and Cawston down to the border.
“Basically, anybody that is a part of the Similkameen river system, they are on evacuation alert just to let them know that they need to be prepared for changing conditions,” said Emergency Operations Centre information officer Erick Thompson Monday afternoon.
Evacuations have also taken place on Monday at Riverside Estates and the River Valley RV parks in Keremeos.
Sandbags are readily available in Keremeos at 1st Avenue near Highway 3A.
