A long-running waterfront campground in Peachland (British Columbia, Canada) could be redeveloped with six, six-story residential buildings.

According to a report, the development proposal includes 49 new houses and six luxury beachside bungalows at 3976 Beach Ave.

The developer highlighted that the buildings and bungalows reflect and reinforce the quality and drama of the surrounding landscape and lakefront.

Porchlight Developments acquired the property in the past, which was formerly known as Todd’s RV and Campground. The campground was opened in 1956.

For the redevelopment plan to go ahead, the town councils will need to modify the site’s zoning from a campground to a tourist commercial and single detached residential.

“This change will sustain the tourism uses of the site but upgrade to a zone to allow for resort structures,” the developer stated on its website.

The firm also claims that the plan is in line with the town’s official community plan that envisions more tourism-related commercial uses, in addition to higher density development.

A virtual public information session about the proposal is scheduled on January 7, between 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
