Lakelse Lake is among the list of provincial parks to secure funds from the government to help with improvements, a report said.
The money will help British Columbia‘s Lakelse Lake Provincial Park develop a plan to increase accessibility towards the Twin Spruce Trail and the Furlong Bay Campground.
BC Parks is investing $21.5 million (about USD 17.27 million) in the coming three years to expand and increase opportunities for outdoor recreation, including the creation of new campsites, trails, and facilities, according to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy George Heyman in a press release.
The funding is part of BC Parks‘ $83-million (about USD 66.65 million) budget increase to enhance the administration of the park and improve visitor experiences.
The ministry also stated that the planning of additional projects, like the expansion of campsites, is in progress for some parks.
In January of this year, Furlong Bay was also awarded $5 million (about USD 4 million) in provincial funds, distributed to numerous northwest B.C. parks to enable charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) within the day-use zone.
