Two locals saved a driver from a late-night rural accident in the latest briefing of the Greater Trail RCMP, a report said.

Trail RCMP, B.C. Ambulance and Kootenay Boundary firefighters responded to a single-vehicle crash at the Nancy Greene junction just after 11:11 p.m. on August 26.

Initial reports indicated that the vehicle and the surrounding vegetation were on fire, with the driver still inside the car. Two Kootenay men camping near the Nancy Greene campground heard the impact.

They quickly acted and helped to extinguish the flames from the vehicle and the surrounding forest. They stayed with the male occupant until emergency personnel arrived.
