The construction of Parksville’s new RV park is in full swing.
According to Alex Watson (chief operating officer at IAG Enterprises), the park, which covers 84 sites, should open by next summer. It is located near the Beach Club, a report said.
Watson stated that the second phase of the development will be a 200-seat restaurant with a two-story design once the park is complete, the report stated.
Council approved the project in January and construction started in July.
“We are excited to finally move on to this project. It’s not an easy site. It’s not always easy to work with the council.” Watson stated that many people have expressed disappointment at the failure to move forward with another project they proposed.
Watson stated that the RV park could be redeveloped in the future. IAG still hopes for the same development of the site as a proposal which included several high-rise buildings but was pulled by the developer after mixed reception, the report said.
Watson stated that IAG can develop the RV park while it is still in development, which allows IAG to retain the property and contribute to Parksville’s economic community, the report said.
