After speeding through the border checkpoint between Western Australia and South Australia, a 47-year-old woman was allegedly ramming a police vehicle and driving her car too fast to pass it, she was remanded in custody, a report said.
The woman was identified as Brenda Elena Bleazard, driving a Volvo wagon with a caravan and leading police on a high-speed chase just after 10 o’clock Monday morning.
Police say she drove her caravan into a car and tried to run over an officer approaching her car from the foot. She then threw a large container of gas at the officer before setting it on fire.
Ms. Bleazard, who has no fixed address, appeared at the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court via an audio link from Eucla police station.
Legal Aid WA declined to assist her and she represented herself in court. She was not required to enter a plea.
Andrew Matthews, the Magistrate, explained that she was facing eight charges. She also faces two counts of reckless driving to avoid police pursuit.
Ms. Bleazard interrupted Magistrate Matthews several times to read the charges to her. She said she didn’t believe in the judicial process and demanded that she be released to “immigrate overseas”.
