The Kangaroo Island Council (Australia) has been granted AU$70,000 for a AU$80,000 project to construct a toilet at Emu Bay Campground.

According to a report, the funds came from the federal government’s AU$20 million Recreational Fishing, and Camping Facilities Program announced by the federal and state governments on January 5.

Around AU$1.7 million would be devoted to South Australian projects.

The announcement states that the Emu Bay campground does not have toilet facilities on the site, which is a stumbling block for families and those looking to camp overnight.

The existing single is about 160 meters away. It is recommended that an additional toilet be constructed in the campground.

“The projects range from installing new jetties to building or upgrading toilet blocks – all of which are important facilities to attract and support recreational fishing, boating, and camping in our regions,” SA Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, David Basham said.
