A young girl, aged 8, has died following a collision with a caravan at a well-known Wilsons Promontory campground in Victoria, Australia, a report said.

The child was hit by the vehicle close to the intersection of 22nd Ave and Fifth Ave in Tidal River around 10 am on Sunday.

A paramedic off duty performed CPR. However, the girl was not able to be saved.

The owner of the vehicle stopped and is now helping the police with their investigation.

Tidal River is the primary tourist hub of Wilsons Promontory National Park where people can swim and surf at Norman Beach. It is the starting point for many popular hikes and walks to the southern Prom.
