BreastScreen NSW’s Donna Falconer has been driving her Groovy Booby Bus from NSW around northern Australia to WA since May this year, stopping off at Cooktown, Darwin, Port Hedland, and Kununurra to create awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
Donna was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2009 when she was 44. She described it as a “total shock.” “I was just blown away. I thought this couldn’t be true,” she said.
After being free of Cancer, Ms. Falconer has sold her home, quit her job, and purchased an RV, becoming a full-time goal to educate Australian women about the importance of regularly scheduled check-ups.
“Life was too short, and I sold my house, threw in my job, and bought an RV. I’m self-funded. It’s all about spreading awareness.”
